Bath Maine had been the location of several rabid fox attacks. The City Council decided to pay over $26,000 to USDA "Animal Services" (best known for putting exploding coyote bait traps out west) and Maine DIFW on a live trapping program.
Many residents and wildlife advocates expressed outrage at the plan, offered legitimate alternatives (vaccinated bait), provided studies that showed it is nearly impossible to live trap fox, and were treated like idiots by Maine DIFW. Then we had to wait months for results-I guess it took that long to try and make an excuse for this epic failure.
